SEX AND THE VERY SERIOUS TRANSPERSON
Dunning 14/6:30pm
Taken from S. Bear Bergman's website: The process of de-sexualizing transpeople in order to make us respectable and non-threatening is nearly complete - but where does that leave us (besides sitting bolt upright and fully dressed with all four feet on the floor)? An exploration of the social and sexual norms imposed upon the trans* community, what happens to those who break them, why we love to hate them (and hate to love them), and what sexual orientation means to someone whose gender is a subject of debate.
S. Bear Bergman
S. Bear Bergman is a writer, a theatre artist, an instigator, a gender-jammer, and a good example of what happens when you overeducate a contrarian. Ze is the author of Butch Is a Noun and Lambda Literary Award-finalist The Nearest Exit May be Behind You. Bear is also the creator and performer of three award-winning solo performances, a frequent contributor to anthologies on all manner of topics and co-editor (with the fabulous Kate Bornstein) of the forthcoming Gender Outlaws: The Next Generation 2010.
